EP #18 - Jose Interiano

Jose spent ten years in sales and moved his family from Miami to Maryland to buy a roofing company from a family friend. Two years into learning the business, with a one-year-old, a two-year-old and a new mortgage, the owner called to say a higher bidder had come in and he was out. He started Restoration Roofing from scratch in 2019, taking the small jobs nobody else wanted: a piece of trim, a patch, painting. He built his first crew by going to his supplier, being open about where he was, and asking who they would vouch for, then used CertainTeed's free training and site visits to get that crew to standard. In this episode Jose also talks about what happened when 30 to 40% annual growth plateaued and he finally had to open the P&L he had been ignoring, and how he now plans cash reserves and cuts marketing spend through the slow winter months.
