Restoration of the railway section at New Farakka (NFK) in West Bengal has entered its final phase, with a successful trial run signalling a return towards normal train operations. A BCM machine completed an empty trial run through the restored section at 6:58 pm ahead of the resumption of passenger services.
Earlier, a goods train successfully passed through the Down Line, providing an important safety validation. Railway teams are now undertaking ballast filling and packing to strengthen the track, restore alignment and ensure stability. Ballast wagons have also undergone trial runs at the site.
Eastern Railway General Manager Gitika Pandey marked the final phase with the traditional breaking of a coconut before the final run commenced. Railway officers, engineers and ground teams are conducting detailed inspections at every stage. Officials said track fitness and passenger safety remain the top priority before normal train services resume fully on the route.
