A Girl Like You The Young Rascals Bass Cover Request

Hello 😊 Here’s my transcription of the song "A Girl Like You" by The Young Rascals. This track comes from their 1967 album Groovin'. The bass player was Chuck Rainey. You can find this transcription on Muzento under the Intermediate Songs category. Just for the record, had I been at the band meeting to choose the name, I would’ve voted against what became their band name. But what do I know? They went on to sell over 2.5 million albums, and I make cover videos of their songs :) But still... I’d have stuck by my vote 😊 This one was commissioned by a very generous supporter of mine (thank you Paul), and on first listen I hadn’t planned on making a video of it. But once I started working on it, I realized how tricky the feel and note choices were. Mr. Rainey has a special touch and feel. It was very challenging to try and match. It’s the pre-chorus section in particular. A combination of the swung 8th-note feel and the harmony makes it deceptively tricky. He makes it sound so smooth and fluid, whereas it felt clumsy and stiff when I was practicing it. Other than that, the song is pretty straightforward and not too difficult.
