He Used A Fake Instagram Account To Lure Him Out… Then Detectives Found The Doorbell Video

Just before 2 a.m. on June 23, 2022, 19-year-old Telan Mann was found shot on a sidewalk near Oak Tree Circle in Daytona Beach, Florida. He had gone there to meet someone he knew only through Instagram. Police said that account belonged to 19-year-old Jakari Webb. On the night of his arrest, a Daytona Beach Police detective starts with a probation violation and a "you ran from police" charge — then works through the bike, the street cameras, the doorbell video, the gun under the basketball hoop, and the account Webb created in February. 📁 THE CASE FILE • Messages from a fake Instagram account, started in February 2022, were used to lure Mann to the meeting spot. • Surveillance video showed the defendant arriving at the scene and running back to a home on Garden Street. A Ring doorbell camera recorded him hiding nearby afterward. • Police found a handgun at the Garden Street property during a search warrant on June 28, 2022, and he was arrested that night. • A forensic exam of his cellphone linked him to the weapon, the victim and the homicide. • In April 2024 a jury convicted Webb of first-degree murder and he was sentenced to life without parole. In 2026, Florida's 5th District Court of Appeal threw out the conviction because the trial court never ruled on his competency; the case was sent back to the circuit court.
