Joseph Smith Jr. was only 38 years old when his mortal life came to a violent end at Carthage Jail in 1844.
Those who killed Joseph may have believed that silencing the Prophet would bring an end to the everlasting gospel he was called to restore. But the work did not end with his death.
The restored gospel continues to move forward carried across nations, languages, and generations.
At the heart of Joseph Smith’s message is a remarkable truth: God is our Father in Heaven. We are His children. Jesus Christ is our Redeemer. And we can show our love and devotion to Him as we strive to follow Him and become more like Him.
“The Work Moves On” is a song about the life and martyrdom of Joseph Smith and a work that could not be stopped by the death of one man.
His mortal voice fell silent.
But the message kept moving.
Every saint has a story.
Because history remembers a few...
but heaven remembers them all.
