Tonight, in the same river, a bear ten times her weight will rise over her on two legs. Wildlife Documentary Spend one long summer day on a salmon river in Alaska, from four in the morning until the short northern night. Sockeye salmon come home from the sea and jump the falls. Tank, the biggest bear on the river, holds the best rock. Willow, a mother with two spring cubs, fishes far from the big males. Gulls, a bald eagle, a fox and the ravens take what the bears leave. And Ash, a young wolf with four hungry pups waiting in a den, walks into the water to learn something a wolf was never made for. The story is built from real behaviour: wolves fish for salmon on the rivers of Alaska and the coast of Canada, and in 2007 visitors at a waterfall in Katmai watched one wolf catch fifteen salmon in a little more than an hour, among the bears. Ash, Tank and Willow are names we gave to the animals to tell it. Filmed with licensed wildlife footage. A few scenes that no camera has caught this close, such as the bear rising over the wolf, were created with AI tools and are marked as altered content. The wolf or the bear: who is the better fisher?
