JOHN 5:19–29 KJV | PART 3 | PASSED FROM DEATH UNTO LIFE

There is a difference between waiting for eternal life someday and hearing Jesus say that the one who hears His word and believes “hath everlasting life” and “is passed from death unto life.” PASSED FROM DEATH UNTO LIFE | JOHN 5:19–29 KJV | PART 3 V1 John 5:19–29 continues the words of Jesus as He speaks of His relationship with the Father, the authority given unto the Son, everlasting life, judgment, and the resurrection. Jesus says: “For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.” He declares that the Father “hath committed all judgment unto the Son,” and that all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. Then Jesus gives this powerful promise: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” The words are not “will someday have” everlasting life. Jesus says “hath everlasting life” and “is passed from death unto life.” Jesus continues: “The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.” The passage then looks ahead to the resurrection, when all that are in the graves shall hear His voice and shall come forth. This V1 arrangement has a majestic, soulful gospel worship feel, keeping the words of Jesus at the center as the passage moves from His teaching about the Father and the Son to everlasting life, judgment, and the resurrection. “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” — Romans 10:17 KJV “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” — John 6:63 KJV Listen closely.
