Music from the Test Card: On Certain Transmitters Only...

A bit different from the previous uploads of test-card music, hm? That's for a good reason, these two tapes featured here tended to come in a pair. They are, of course, Binokel and Bugle Call Rag, two tapes that had a short network life, but were effectively immortal on the regional opt-out network. Binokel ID 20, first air 3/15/63, last nat'l air 2/1/64. Bugle Call Rag ID 1 (new sequence w/ start of BBC1), first air 6/21/63, last nat'l air 5/13/64. First known opt-out with these (and we do not have data to when opt-outs first began, unfortunately) in early 1966, last one about 1972! About 6 times longer they spent as opt-outs!
