ABANDONED AMERICA!! 15 Forbidden Places in New Jersey You Won’t Believe Exist #worldside #newjersey #forbiddenplaces #america #restricted #abandonedplaces #forgottenamerica #urbanexploration #darkhistory
New Jersey is famous for the Jersey Shore, dense suburbs, major highways, and its position between New York City and Philadelphia. But beyond the familiar Garden State lies another world of abandoned structures, industrial ruins, protected historic sites, underground infrastructure, and places where public access is heavily restricted.
In this documentary, we explore 15 of New Jersey’s most unusual forbidden and restricted places.
The journey begins with Clinton Road, surrounded by the forests of northern New Jersey, before heading underground to Clifton’s infamous Gates of Hell drainage system. From there, we explore the enormous Paulinskill Viaduct and the deteriorating remains associated with Gingerbread Castle.
New Jersey’s institutional and industrial past reveals another side of the story through sites associated with Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital, Hagedorn Psychiatric Hospital, Essex County Isolation Hospital, and Raritan Arsenal.
Farther into the wilderness, abandoned industrial history appears again at Brooksbrae Brick Factory, Roebling Steel Mill, and Amatol.
Not every location is completely inaccessible. Historic places including the Deserted Village of Feltville and Batsto Village have legitimate visitor access while particular buildings or areas remain protected or restricted. Markdown yang ditempel (1)
The journey concludes with Weymouth Furnace and the ruins of Harrisville, where remnants of New Jersey’s industrial past remain surrounded by forest.
Some locations are restricted because of unstable structures. Others involve environmental hazards, protected historic resources, or controlled property.
Together, they reveal a side of New Jersey hidden far beyond its highways, suburbs, and famous coastline.
