Sabdiel Perez entered the cleaning industry at just 14 years old.
Now 19, he's helping build Clean First Cleaning Services, a family business in Nashville, Tennessee, with two crews working across construction cleaning, recurring commercial and residential work and specialist cleaning projects.
I sat down with Sabdiel while visiting Nashville to talk about what he's learned during those first five years.
We get into systems and checklists, defining scopes of work, maintaining quality as a team grows, converting one-off jobs into recurring customers, working with subcontractors and why attention to detail matters so much.
Sabdiel is also developing his own estimating and invoicing software for contractors, with plans for simple margin-based pricing tools, scheduling and AI-assisted features.
And when I asked what advice he'd give someone starting out, his three points were refreshingly straightforward:
Know your numbers.
Do the job as though it were for you.
Reinvest into the business.
A fascinating conversation with a young entrepreneur who may only be 19 — but already thinks seriously about systems, service and building a business for the long term.
