just a healthy amount of childhood trauma _ the song:    • Intro (Living Ghost)   alsoooo i feel like i should give credit for what caused me to stumble across the song as well!:    • LIVING GHOST-Rabbitology [JRWI RIPTIDE PMV...   (just for clarification i don't follow the story of jrwi: riptide - i just came across this because of the awesome art) _ hecc yeah i've been meaning to get to Eclipse's backstory for a while! this animatic is sort of barebones so maybe i'll go into more depth another time, but for the meanwhile i can give a brief overview hehe Eclipse hatched with a rare genetic disease, making her wing membranes thin and her wing muscles weak and atrophied. While technology existed to help her fly regardless, she grew frustrated and envious of her peers who were all in all more than a little ignorant. Partly from her own spite but mostly from peer pressure, when she was around five years old, she decided one night she would head to the highest peak to fly. The moment she left the ground, things began to go wrong. The strong winds and their icy chill tore at her wings, destroying them, and she plummeted towards the forest below. Her father found her not long after. Being an expert mechanic, in a last-ditch attempt to bring her back, he fashioned a mechanical body for her - intricate enough to be essentially indistinguishable from something biological. After decades of work, he used magic to transfer her consciousness into the machine and eventually wake her up. additional note because i think it's cool: A common funerary custom for dragons in this universe is to turn their deceased loved ones into gemstones! the sapphire Eclipse's father holds for a couple shots (as well as in the thumbnail) is actually her :)
