The same waters that drowned Egypt saved Israel - and fifteen hundred years later Paul says Israel was "baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea" (1 Corinthians 10:2). The crossing of the Red Sea is not an ancient rescue you admire from the shore; it is the shape of your own salvation - deliverance out of bondage, through the waters of judgment, the enemy destroyed behind you, and a people brought out to God. That pattern - salvation through judgment - runs like a buried river through the whole Bible until it surfaces at a cross and an empty tomb.
This is the whole Red Sea trajectory walked stage by stage across nine texts: the deliverance itself (Exodus 14), its canonization in the Song of Moses and the Psalms, Isaiah turning the memory into a promise of something new, Moses naming Christ's departure - His exodos - on the mount of Transfiguration (Luke 9:31), Jesus calling His own death a baptism (Luke 12:50), Paul and Peter naming the crossing a baptism-type for the Church (1 Corinthians 10; Romans 6; 1 Peter 3), and the redeemed at last standing beside a sea of glass, singing the song of Moses and of the Lamb, where the sea is no more (Revelation 15; 21).
Professor Westminster walks the live study page with you, tracing the redemptive-historical thread from the Red Sea to the empty tomb and pressing it home to the heart. The Deliverer did not walk around the flood - He went down into it, baptized into death so that you would never have to be, and rose on the far shore. Every stage opens the text on screen, verse by verse. Explore the whole interactive map yourself at the link above.

THE THREAD
The lexeme thread carried across the canon: yam / yam suph, the sea God splits (baqa, to cleave) → baptizo (1 Corinthians 10:2), the crossing named a baptism; yasha / yeshuah, "the salvation of the LORD" (Exodus 14:13), the very word-root folded into the name Yeshua, Jesus; ga'al, to redeem as a kinsman buys back his own (Exodus 15:13); exodos, Christ's departure accomplished at Jerusalem (Luke 9:31); antitypon, the technical word for the type fulfilled (1 Peter 3:21); and yam rendered thalassa in the Greek, the sea at last "no more" (Revelation 21:1). Method: Typology carried by the salvation-through-judgment-waters pattern - a real, escalating, forward-pointing type named as such by the apostles (typoi, 1 Corinthians 10:6, 11), fulfilled in Christ's baptism of death and resurrection and applied to the Church in baptism.
