Healthcare is full of things we stop questioning simply because they have been done the same way for so long.
That is a big part of what stood out to me in our latest Chatting with Chat conversation with @Matthew Ostroff. Through his work leading the Vascular Access Program at @St. Joseph’s Health, and now through @Clinspec Solutions, Matthew shared a perspective that felt deeply grounded in both clinical experience and a real commitment to doing better for patients.
What I appreciated most was that this was not a conversation about innovation for the sake of innovation. It was about paying closer attention to what patients need, being willing to challenge assumptions, and asking whether the standard approach is actually the best one.
A few insights from the conversation that stood out:
🩺 Individualized care means recognizing that the best option is not always the default one
🏥 As technology evolves, it opens the door to rethinking where and how care can happen safely
📊 New ideas only move care forward when they are backed by evidence and real outcomes
🎓 Better care requires clinicians who are committed to learning, adapting, and pushing their practice forward
One thing that came up again and again throughout the conversation was this: some of the most meaningful progress in healthcare starts by questioning what has been normalized.
It was a reminder that better care often starts with better questions.
