Here is the FULL VIDEO - REVIEWING EACH CAMPSITE @ Devil's Lake Trail Campground -    • (4K UHD) REVIEWING EACH CAMPSITE @ Devil's...   Devil's Lake is one THE Premier Zones in the entire Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway Area in Deschutes National Forest, Central Oregon! It has 10 Walk-In, Tent-Only Backcountry style Campsites that are FREE, First Come, First Served, NOT Reservable. A Parking Pass is required. The Lake itself is 23 Acres and considered Shallow with an Average Depth of 3 FT and a Maximum Depth of 10 FT. It is freezing or near freezing cold Mountain Glacial Runoff Water so Swimming is NOT Advised due to a real Hypothermia Safety Risk. It is a Paddler's Delight Wonderland Zone of Kayaking, Rafting and Paddleboarding with NO Motor Boats. It has Fishing of Stocked Rainbow and Natural Brook Trout with the Best Time considered May - July. It is also an ideal Base Camp for Hiking as a Gateway to Three Sisters Wilderness which is personally my favorite Wilderness in the State of Oregon. The South Sister Climber Trailhead, one of the most ubiquitous Hikes in Central Oregon shares a parking lot so you can do this Hike directly from Devil's Lake without moving your vehicle. Just a couple minutes down the Road is the Trailhead for Green Lakes, Moraine Lake, Todd Lake up to No Name Lake and Bend Glacier - all the Highlights of Broken Top Backpacking Loop! Traveling South down Cascade Lakes is Elk Lake and Hosmer Lake which are arguably Paddler's Delight Ground Zero in Central Oregon. Devil's Lake is uniquely situated in the very heart of this Alpine Wonderland Zone! This Campground Review was done on May 7, 2026, the Day the Gate for Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway opened earlier in the Day at 8:00 AM, and I arrived at 8:37 AM and was the very first person at Devil's Lake for the 26' Summer Season! The main benefit of this is it allowed me to do a Full Campground Review. Due to the severely low Snowpack from the 25'/26' Winter Season, it was one of the earliest opening of the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway - still very much in the heart of Spring! There was still some Snow on Devil's Lake Trail which I had anticipated prior to starting this Campground Review. The main bio point of interest was massive Clouds of Gnats along the Shoreline - could be viewed as raw natural beauty or horrifying depending on one's mood. The 10 Walk-In, Tent Only Backcountry style Campsites that are FREE, First Come, First Served, NOT Reservable, are ALL high quality. A Parking Pass is required. There is no numbering system, so I arbitrarily created my own only for reference purposes, these are NOT the official Campsite Numbers.
