Mr. Drysdale is ready to bring his bank into the modern age, but his latest technological advancement is about to create a very old-fashioned problem! After 47 years of loyal service, longtime bank employee Leroy Lester learns that a new computer is replacing him. Suddenly, the dedicated bookkeeper finds himself out of a job, and Drysdale seems more interested in his expensive new machine than the man who spent a lifetime working for him. When Leroy's car breaks down near the Clampett mansion, Jethro brings the discouraged accountant home to meet the family. Jed and Granny welcome him with their usual mountain hospitality, while Jethro and Elly May try to get his automobile running again. Granny even offers a little homemade encouragement to help Leroy forget his troubles! Meanwhile, back at the Commerce Bank, Drysdale's wonderful new computer isn't living up to its promises. With the machine out of commission and the bank's accounting in trouble, Drysdale suddenly realizes just how valuable his former employee really was. But convincing Leroy to return won't be nearly as easy as replacing him with a machine!
