日向大神宮（Himukai Daijingu）・御祭神：天御中主神、高皇産霊神、天照大御神、月読命、大国主命、伊邪那岐命・伊邪那美命、瓊瓊杵尊、武甕雷命、神武天皇、事代主命、大山祇神、水波能売神

5世紀、筑紫日向の高千穂の峯の神蹟を移して創建。京都東山区から山科区の山々の中に鎮座し、 秘境的な聖域としての神気を感じる稀有な神社。 御祭神としても、内宮には天を統べる天照大御神、 外宮には、宇宙根源神である天御中主神（アメノミナカヌシノカミ）、 上ノ別宮には、造化三神の一柱である 高皇産霊神(タカミムスビノカミ)、 天照大神と素戔嗚尊と共に三貴神の一柱である 月読尊（ツクヨミノミコト）、 神代七代の最後を飾る伊弉諾尊(イザナギノミコト)・　伊弉冉尊(イザナミノミコト)、 出雲・国津神の代表的存在である大国主命（オオクニヌシノミコト）、 第一の武神である武甕槌命(タケミカヅチノミコト)、などなど。 「天の岩戸」と呼ばれる岩窟には、戸隠神社の天手力男命（アメノタヂカラオノミコト）が祀られ、 山の奥には、天龍・地龍などの龍神も鎮座。 Founded in the 5th century, this shrine was established by transferring the sacred site from the peak of Takachiho-no-mine in Hyuga, Tsukushi. Nestled in the mountains stretching from Kyoto's Higashiyama Ward to Yamashina Ward, it is a rare shrine that exudes the spiritual aura of a secluded, sacred sanctuary. The enshrined deities include: Amaterasu-Omikami, who rules the heavens, in the Inner Shrine (Naiku); Amenominakanushi-no-Kami, the primordial deity of the universe, in the Outer Shrine (Geku); and in the Upper Separate Shrine (Kami-no-Betsugu), Takamimusubi-no-Kami (one of the three deities of creation), Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto (one of the "Three Noble Children" alongside Amaterasu and Susanoo), Izanagi-no-Mikoto and Izanami-no-Mikoto (the final pair of the Seven Generations of the Age of the Gods), Okuninushi-no-Mikoto (a representative deity of Izumo and the Kunitsukami or earthly gods), and Takemikazuchi-no-Mikoto (the foremost deity of martial arts), among others. A rock cave known as "Ama-no-Iwato" enshrines Ametajikarao-no-Mikoto (the deity of Togakushi Shrine), while deep within the mountains, dragon deities—such as the Heavenly Dragon and Earthly Dragon—are also enshrined.
