Lake Powell water level 2026: the reservoir sits at about 3,518 feet, just 28 feet above the 3,490-foot minimum power pool where Glen Canyon Dam stops generating electricity for roughly 5 million people. Federal projections have shown the lake reaching that line as early as December 2026.
Inflow this water year was forecast at 2.78 million acre-feet, about 29% of average and one of the lowest on record. The lake is roughly 23% full. Two boat ramps closed in June, heavy equipment clears sediment at the main ramp daily, Bullfrog’s marina relocated, and Antelope Point is planning an $81 million ramp extension just to keep access at the level the lake is already at.
This video covers minimum power pool, dead pool, the river outlet works, why recreation comes last on this reservoir, and what a shutdown would mean for Page, Arizona.
Should Lake Powell be drained into Lake Mead and managed as one reservoir? Tell me in the comments.
