Larry the Downing Street Cat 🐾 - A Big Thank You from a National Treasure!

Just a little dispatch to say a very heartfelt “Thank you” for all your get-well messages and kind enquiries about yours truly. I am, frankly, flabbergasted. And I am a cat who has spent years being surrounded by politicians, so it takes quite a lot to flabbergast me. As previously reported, I am being looked after splendidly and enjoying a restorative weekend, curled up in a location where nobody would ever suspect a national treasure to be found asleep. I shall reveal nothing further, except to say that the accommodation is excellent and the staff, while attentive, remain woefully underqualified in the provision of treats. I have also emailed Dave with my requirements for the coming week’s updates. These are, naturally, extensive and non-negotiable. Unfortunately, he has just informed me that he has a work trip to Antarctica planned in the very near future……Antarctica! I have heard some fairly desperate excuses from humans attempting to evade their duties, but travelling to the bottom of the planet, to a place inhabited largely by penguins and people who have made some questionable career choices, strikes me as excessive. One does wonder if MI6 is aware of the lengths to which its staff will go to avoid a weekly update from a cat. Still, Dave has asked me to enquire whether you lovely viewers might be interested in following his latest adventure. If there is sufficient enthusiasm, he promises to send back despatches from this frozen wilderness. I shall, of course, be the correspondent responsible for bringing you these reports. Dave may be the one doing the travelling, but I shall be the one providing the editorial oversight and the analysis. So, in the unlikely event that Antarctica proves interesting, you may look forward to dispatches from the ice, courtesy of Dave and his feline editor-in-chief. After all, somebody has to keep an eye on him. And I have absolutely no intention of allowing a man at the bottom of the world to steal the limelight from a national treasure.
