Part 1 - What Is the Church? | What the New Testament Actually Says | Karen Stuckey

What is the Church according to the New Testament? When we hear the word church, we might think of a building, Sunday service, pastor, worship team or denomination. But what happens when we put our church experiences aside for a moment and simply ask: What does the Bible actually say? In this first episode of The New Testament Church Explained, we open the New Testament and look at how Scripture describes the Church—as Christ's Church, His Body, God's household, living stones and a holy priesthood. We also explore some important questions: • Is the church a building? • Does a church have to meet in a particular place? • What does it mean that believers are members of Christ's Body? • Is ministry only the responsibility of church leaders? • What can Acts 2:42–47 teach us about early church life? • How do we distinguish between biblical commands, principles, examples and our own methods? • Have some of our traditions become confused with what Scripture actually requires? This series isn't about attacking traditional churches or claiming that home churches automatically have everything right. It's about opening the Bible and asking: What does the New Testament actually teach about the Church, and how can we faithfully live that out today? 📖 SCRIPTURES IN THIS EPISODE Matthew 16:13–18 Acts 2:41–47 Romans 12:4–5 Romans 16:5 1 Corinthians 12:12–27 Ephesians 2:19–22 Ephesians 4:11–16 1 Peter 2:4–10 1 Peter 4:10 Whether you're part of an established church, leading a home church, beginning a Christian gathering, or simply wanting to understand the biblical Church more deeply, I hope this series encourages you to search the Scriptures for yourself. Don't simply take my word for it. Open your Bible, examine the context, and test what you hear against Scripture. Next episode Jesus Christ: Head of the Church — What Does That Actually Mean?
