Dorchester in the Dark | Witnesses of History In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, Witnesses of History: The American Revolution continues with the climax of the Siege of Boston. March 4-17, 1776. The guns had crossed winter. Henry Knox had brought the cannon. Washington had waited for position. And Dorchester Heights became the turning point. Dorchester in the Dark is not about a loud battlefield charge. It is about patience. Strategy. Cold ground. Silent movement. Cannon placed through the night. The British still held Boston. Their ships still sat in the harbor. Their power still looked unshaken. But when morning came, the guns were above them. The Heights looked down. The harbor held its breath. And suddenly the British had a decision to make: Attack fortified high ground and risk another Bunker Hill… Or leave Boston. This song is the payoff to the Washington and Henry Knox arc. No Crown on His Head showed Washington taking the burden of command. Freedom Has a Weight showed Henry Knox facing the impossible load. Iron in the Snow moved the guns through winter. Dorchester in the Dark shows why it mattered. Sometimes victory does not charge. Sometimes it waits, climbs, and looks down.
