My dad and brother have gone home — over 500 miles away — and suddenly, I’m left to keep this Tennessee cottage build moving on my own. In this episode of my DIY Tennessee cottage build, we dig and prepare the concrete footers, install the rebar, get ready for the footing inspection, and finally bring in the concrete truck for one of the biggest milestones of the build so far. After weeks of excavation, clay, measurements, leveling, setbacks and figuring things out as we went, seeing that concrete finally go into the ground felt HUGE. These footings are what everything else will eventually rest on, so getting this part right mattered.
