Watch each scene in English first, then the same scene again in Korean. The Korean scenes show English subtitles underneath, so you can follow along and match the meaning. After every scene, a Word Time card teaches key Korean words — meaning, pronunciation and an example sentence. A fun way to practice Korean listening with a story — for kids and beginners. (about 11 min) Grandpa Ivan and Grandma Marfa live in a little hut by the cold sea. Grandma grumbles about their leaky, cracked washtub, but every evening they share warm soup beside it. One day a fish that sparkles like gold gets caught in Grandpa's net — and Grandpa lets it go without asking for a thing. Grandma is furious! A new washtub, a new house, a mansion with a hundred servants, then a palace with golden onion domes… With every wish the sea grows cloudier, greyer, darker. Alone at the end of a long royal table, Queen Marfa whispers to the sea: "I miss the soup we shared beside our cracked old washtub." In the howling storm, Grandpa's last wish isn't to make her queen of the sea. It's "Please, make my wife smile again." And when everything disappears, Grandma is waiting at the old hut, hugging the cracked washtub.
