Time pressure, lack of information and a difficult problem can sometimes mix together and challenge even the best technicians. Reduced engine power under hard acceleration and above 3000 RPM? This Volvo 2.0 B4 MHEV came in with classic underboost symptoms and fault codes P029900 and P02CB00. During normal driving, everything felt fine—but push it, and boost pressure dropped hard. In this case, even an experienced technician followed all the right steps: scan tool diagnostics, smoke testing, component swapping, and data analysis—yet the fault remained. Limited data from OE tools and time pressure led the diagnosis down a costly path before the real issue was uncovered. In the video, we walk through the full diagnostic journey, highlight the importance of the right data (and what happens when it’s missing), and show practical tests you can use to avoid misdiagnosis on similar setups. This case is a strong example of how DDTSB helps workshops avoid the technician traps that many would walk right into by providing the right information to common issues. 💡 This case is one example of a Technical Service Bulletin from DDTSB with real-world guidance for workshops. This was DDTSB No. 13082 (Available in DDTSB after next upload April 2026).
