At 2:05 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 1987, Dr. Ronald Daniels pronounced Liberace dead inside his Palm Springs home as nearly 100 people gathered outside. Later that afternoon, a navy-blue hearse carried him away while his sister Angelina Farrell reached toward it from the doorway. His destination was Forest Lawn in the Hollywood Hills, where his mother and brother were already entombed. This film follows the records behind the rooms cameras never saw: the preparation that took place at Forest Lawn, the Glendale burial-permit desk, the 10 a.m. van to Riverside County, the 90-minute autopsy, and the private open-casket viewing before entombment.
Where were you when you heard that Liberace had died? What state were you in, and how old were you? What do you think the records reveal about the journey between Forest Lawn and Riverside County? Tell us in the comments.
