Join me and Mrs W for a fantastic 9.3-mile coastal walk from Filey to Scarborough, taking in some beautiful beaches, dramatic cliffs, stunning views and a few unexpected surprises along the way. We start at Filey Sands, before strolling along the promenade past the paddling pool. At Church Ravine, we climb up onto the cliff top, where we’re rewarded with some lovely views across Filey Bay. At the far end of the bay, we join the Cleveland Way, following the spectacular coastline over North Cliff, Newbiggin Cliff and Gristhorpe Cliff. We stop for a while to fly the drone over Gristhorpe Sands and, as an added bonus, we’re treated to a brief glimpse of the Red Arrows flying overhead. The walk continues over Lebberstone Cliff before descending into Cayton Bay, followed by another climb up Osgodby Hill. Here, we get an unexpected wildlife encounter when a deer suddenly appears, being chased by a dog. From there, we continue along Frank Cliff and Wheatcroft Cliff, eventually descending into Scarborough’s South Bay. After a short section along the promenade, we head onto South Sands for the final stretch of the walk, where we discover a sandcastle-building competition taking place on the beach.
