Salem After Dark | Quiet September Walk Through Derby Wharf & Downtown | 4K

Turns out, there was still a little elbow room in Salem a few weeks ago. 🌙 We’re taking a breather from the Halloween madness and heading back to the final days of September for a quieter evening walk through Salem, Massachusetts. The decorations were up, the city was getting ready, and Essex Street still had some space to spare. This one brings us along Derby Street and out to Derby Wharf, with the Sail House, Friendship of Salem docked with work underway, and the Custom House along the way. Gentle harbor waters and a look at Derby Wharf Lighthouse made it worth heading out before spending the rest of the evening wandering downtown. Keep an eye out for Jaho Coffee looking thoroughly haunted, along with Barrio Tacos, Trade House, and Mercy Tavern. The Wolf Next Door Coffee and Bella Verona make appearances too, both favorites of ours. There’s also a wander through the neighborhood around The House of the Seven Gables, a look at the Hawthorne Hotel, and some quieter downtown time around Essex Street, Old Town Hall, and Front Street. October wasn’t far off. You’ll spot parade route fencing, street barriers, and signage getting into position for Haunted Happenings. Even CVS had a skeleton on duty, though his appearance here is very brief. 💀 For fellow locals making their way through the October crowds, here’s a little breathing room. For visitors who know Salem best during Halloween, come spend some time with its quieter side. Gentle water, old streets after dark, and enough spooky atmosphere to remind you where you are.
