I Got an Abandoned House — Why Did They Leave It All?

I got an abandoned house — and a mystery to solve: why did the people who lived here just walk away? A private house among high-rises, an attic full of vintage relics, and a second abandoned house next door hiding a stone cellar. The entrance is guarded by metal bars screwed to plain wood, but the door is open. Dried-out plants nobody has watered in ages, no electricity, and a strange feeling — this place somehow reminds me of my childhood. The first ladder to the attic is so fragile it's scary to climb… and it doesn't even lead up there. Inside, the owners' things start telling their story. A clay mug, a strange glass you can't set down until you drink it — or is it a medical cupping jar? Playing cards with the ace of hearts, old money nobody needs anymore, a Panasonic TV remote. The dishes are gone, but the books stayed behind, and a little clay dog on the sofa is still guarding the house. Outside the windows — apartment blocks and the ruins of the neighboring house. Maybe that's the answer? When I finally reach the attic, it turns out the most interesting things were up there all along: a vintage table lamp from the 1950s–60s, parts of some mysterious device, a baby bottle with a crumbling nipple, a wicker suitcase and children's toys. A child once grew up here. Then a sagging old shed, and a second abandoned house: stone walls in a house that looked wooden from outside, a door bolt that's hard to open, a frightened swallow and a bird's nest, horse harness parts — and an unexpected stone cellar where winter supplies were probably kept.
