Simonside & Dove Crags, Northumberland | Windy Evening Ridge Walk

Still Northumberland Field Notes Location: Simonside, Northumberland, England Date: 12 June, 2026 Starting at Simonside, this walk follows the moorland path to the summit before continuing along the ridge to Dove Crag. From there, we descend back towards the road and return to the car park, enjoying wide-ranging views across the Northumberland landscape along the way. A challenging day for audio recording due to strong winds on the higher ground, but the natural sounds and atmosphere of the walk remain as they were on the day. Still Northumberland captures landscapes as they are experienced, on that day, in that weather, and as they are walked. No talking. No music. Just natural sound.
