Episode # 5715 DEAR MILKMAN Original airdate: 2-09-58 When August Dickens, played by Loretta Young, leaves notes for her husband in her empty milk bottles on her back porch, it almost ruins their marriage because the notes fall into the wrong hands and the ensuing publicity nearly wrecks their ten-year marriage. One member of this cast, Nancy Kulp, would four years after her performance in this episode became well-known for playing the character of Miss Hathaway on the popular comedy series The Beverly Hillbillies on CBS. Robert Rockwell was an American stage, film, radio and television actor best known for playing the handsome, but awkward biology teacher Philip Boynton in the radio and television sitcom Our Miss Brooks opposite Eve Arden. He died on January 25, 2003, in Malibu, California of cancer at the age of 83. Peter Leeds appeared on television more than 8,000 times with many film, Broadway, and radio credits. The majority of his work took place in the 1950s and 1960s with many well-known comedians where he became popular as a straight man to their antics. Beyond situation comedies, Peter Leeds was also a dramatic actor, a Broadway performer, and a regular on many variety shows and made three guest appearances on Perry Mason. He was also a popular voice-over artist, being heard on over 3,000 radio shows. He died on November 12, 1996 at age 79 in Los Angeles, California. Mabel Albertson's memorable early film role was as a proper banker's wife in Ma and Pa Kettle at Waikiki (1955). She was also seen in She's Back on Broadway, About Mrs. Leslie, Forever, Darling, The Long, Hot Summer, Don't Give Up the Ship, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever and as Mrs. Van Hoskins, a wealthy woman whose jewels are stolen, in the screwball comedy film What's Up, Doc? (1972). After suffering seven years of poor health, Albertson died on September 28, 1982 of Alzheimer's disease at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California at the age of 81. Her ashes were scattered into the Pacific Ocean. Her brother, actor Jack Albertson, who had died 10 months before also had his ashes scattered there. Trivia fact: Manel Albertson's son, George Englund, was once married to actress Cloris Leachman.
