Modern-Day Odyssey

“Modern-Day Odyssey” is an original song written by Jerry Hewitt Jr., inspired by Homer’s The Odyssey and the parallels between Odysseus’s journey and the struggles we all face in modern life. The lotus becomes addiction. The people and creatures who devour everything around them become the people and circumstances that drain us. The storms become the consequences of our choices. Walking through hell becomes facing our own demons. And through it all, we keep getting back up, catching that second wind and continuing the journey. In this song, “home” isn’t simply a place. It represents the life we’re trying to reach while we still have time—the person we’re trying to become and the peace, purpose and happiness we hope to find along the way. Because in one way or another, we’re all living our own modern-day Odyssey. “We’re all living a modern-day Odyssey, Facing our own kind of adversity…” Written by Jerry Hewitt Jr. © Jerry Hewitt Jr. | October 5, 2026 | All Rights Reserved #ModernDayOdyssey #OriginalSong #JerryHewittJr #PopRock #RockMusic #OriginalMusic #Songwriter #IndependentArtist #NewMusic #TheOdyssey #Odysseus #Homer #GreekMythology #LifeJourney #OvercomingAdversity #FindingYourWay #MusicWithMeaning #StorytellingThroughMusic
