If You Have NO MONEY, Here Are the 6 Cheapest Ecuador Towns to Move To
If your Social Security check is around $1,500, the maths at home can stop working fast, with rent, groceries and the Medicare premium gone before the month has really started. In Ecuador’s highlands the numbers look very different. In Paute, a quiet river town about 40 minutes from Cuenca’s hospitals, one person lives on about $653 a month, including rent, food, electricity, internet, buses and public IESS health cover at $85. In Loja, a southern university city with its own IESS general hospital, the same budget comes to about $842. Every town in this video is in the highlands, every budget is for one person, and every one lands under $900 a month.
Before you comment: yes, Ecuador has a real crime problem, and the US State Department rates the country Level 2 overall. The areas it tells Americans not to visit, or to reconsider, are on the coast and in the far northeast, including parts of Guayaquil, Durán and Esmeraldas, and the provinces of Sucumbíos, Manabí, Santa Elena and Santo Domingo. None of the six towns in this video is in those areas. All prices are in US dollars, because that is Ecuador’s currency.
