Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi has responded to the backlash over Batwara 1947, saying he is “pro-India and pro-humanity” and that humanity stands above all religions.
Backed by Aamir Khan Productions and starring Sunny Deol, the Partition drama explores displacement, loss, religion and humanity without demonising any community or country.
Santoshi defended Sunny Deol's casting as a Muslim character and said he has no regrets about making the film. He urged audiences to watch Batwara 1947 before forming an opinion.
