What does Jesus say to a church that is suffering? In this second message of our Seven Churches of Revelation series, Cole Tuck examines Jesus’ letter to the church in Smyrna in Revelation 2:8–11. Smyrna was experiencing tribulation, poverty, persecution, and the threat of continued suffering. But Jesus didn't promise that their problems would immediately disappear. Instead, He reminded them that He knew their troubles, that they were spiritually rich, and that their faithfulness would ultimately be rewarded. Most importantly, Jesus called them to “be faithful unto death” and promised them the crown of life. This message challenges us to look beyond our temporary circumstances and remember that Jesus has already walked the path of suffering and death, and He overcame it.
