In this video I explore a brand new section of a mountain stream here in North Georgia, kayaking and wading upstream to see what’s living in water I’ve never fished before. The stream delivered a mix of native Shoal Bass and invasive Alabama Bass, a reminder of how far Alabama Bass have spread into Georgia’s river systems and the pressure they put on our native species.
I eventually reached a massive boulder rock formation that made a natural turnaround point. I didn’t push any further upstream this trip, but it definitely leaves the door open for a return visit to see what’s beyond it.
Fresh off completing the 2026 Georgia Bass Slam, I’m still out here chasing native bass in wild places. If you enjoy creek fishing, native species, and exploring the backcountry waters of North Georgia, consider subscribing and let me know in the comments if you want to see what’s past those boulders!
