I headed out to chase striped bass, but Georgia’s drought had other plans. The river was the lowest I’ve ever seen it, with dry banks, exposed rocks, and barely any current. The stripers were nowhere to be found, so I adapted and went after whatever was willing to bite. What I found was a mix of native largemouth bass and invasive Alabama bass, which have been spreading through Georgia’s rivers and pushing out our native species. Then a fish hit that I wasn’t expecting: a MONSTER 19-inch Alabama bass, one of the biggest I’ve ever caught. 🎣 What I used: • Zoom Speed Craw, Texas-rigged, for working the rocks and deeper holes • Zoom trickworm black, Texas-rigged, for working the rocks and deeper holes • Zoom Super Fluke (white), rigged weightless, for twitching near the surface Low water can be tough, but it also concentrates fish into the deeper holes. If you’re fishing during the drought, focus on whatever deep water and current you can find. 🎣 Drop a comment: have the drought conditions affected your local waters? 👍 Like and subscribe for more Georgia river fishing! #BassFishing #GeorgiaFishing #AlabamaBass #LargemouthBass #RiverFishing #DroughtFishing #StripedBass
