MLC नतीजों पर हाहाकार, सवर्णों की चेतावनी, हिल गई बीजेपी | General | BJP | MLC Elections|
The results of the Legislative Council elections have sent a strong message to the BJP, particularly from sections of the upper-caste community. Many upper-caste voters are now openly expressing their dissatisfaction.
Some users argue that the timing cannot be ignored: just before the Uttar Pradesh elections, sections of the Brahmin community have begun openly opposing the BJP over the UGC regulations.
They say the BJP still has time to establish an Upper-Caste Commission in Uttar Pradesh and withdraw what they describe as the controversial UGC regulations, in the hope of bringing disgruntled Brahmin voters back into the party’s fold. However, they also express doubts about whether the BJP will take these steps.
Similar reactions are emerging over the Varanasi seat.
Some users claim that the Samajwadi Party’s victory in the Varanasi MLC election was partly the result of the BJP’s own policies. They are asking: if you introduce the UGC regulations and continue to promote the SC/ST Act, how do you expect to win, Prime Minister Modi? They argue that upper-caste voters are deeply unhappy.
Another user has asked how long upper-caste voters will continue to shoulder the burden of winning elections for the BJP. According to the post, the party should now take responsibility for winning elections on its own. The user also sarcastically suggested that repeatedly expanding reservation is apparently the BJP’s preferred strategy for winning elections.
However, some people have argued that the MLC seats won by the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh were already held by the party. In response, critics of the BJP are asking why it failed to retain both MLC seats in Varanasi, the Prime Minister’s parliamentary constituency.
They argue that when the BJP has been in power in Uttar Pradesh for around a decade, losing both MLC seats in the Prime Minister’s own constituency should not be brushed aside. Some have described the result as embarrassing for the party.
The discussion is not limited to Uttar Pradesh. A similar situation is being discussed in Bihar.
In the Patna Teachers’ Constituency election, BJP veteran Nawal Kishore Yadav, who had served as an MLC for around 30 years, lost to RJD candidate Dr Sanjeev Kumar.
Some upper-caste social media users claim that Dr Sanjeev Kumar had openly opposed the UGC regulations, while BJP leaders who had benefited from upper-caste support had taken the opposite position.
Some upper-caste users are now saying that if the BJP still fails to understand their concerns, it may never understand them.
The statement made by Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has also drawn considerable attention from these users.

Reacting to his statement, some upper-caste users are telling the Deputy Chief Minister that there is still time for him to wake up to their concerns and make the entire BJP leadership understand their anger.
They are demanding that the UGC regulations be withdrawn, the SC/ST Act be scrapped, caste-based reservation be abolished in favour of reservation based on economic criteria, and an Upper-Caste Commission be established.
Some are warning that if these demands are not met, the BJP should be prepared to lose Uttar Pradesh in the next Assembly election and suffer losses in the next Lok Sabha election as well.
Their claim is that sections of the upper-caste community have already made up their minds not to vote for the BJP.
GFX OUT
Another social media post claims that the BJP’s vote share in the MLC elections declined because of opposition to the UGC regulations, the SC/ST Act and caste-based reservation.
According to the post, the BJP failed to protect its position in constituencies where upper-caste voters make up a majority or a substantial share of the electorate.
The author accuses the party of acting as though it does not recognise these warning signs, while suggesting that the results could point towards a change of government in Uttar Pradesh in 2027.
Overall, the MLC election results have triggered a debate over whether dissatisfaction among a section of upper-caste voters is beginning to affect the BJP’s traditional support base.
The social media reactions are clear, but the larger question remains: do these election results reflect a broader shift in voter sentiment, or are local political factors and candidate-specific issues also playing a significant role?
