Motivations for Giving (7/11/2026)

With this class, we begin a chapter in the Anguttara Nikaya, Book of Eights, devoted almost entirely to the practice of generosity. In this talk, Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi expounds on sutta nos. 31 and 33, both of which deal with motivations for giving. The reasons proceed upward, beginning with the coarser motives and culminate in the highest motive, "to ornament and equip the mind."
