Sixteen plain groceries, every food on the list under three dollars a pound, and together they carry the dinners in my house for a month. For each one I tell you what it costs, what it replaces, and what that other thing would have cost you instead. The sixteenth one is not food at all, it is free, and it saves the most. In this video: ✓ The one bill in your house that starts over every seven days ✓ Sixteen groceries, each with its price and what it replaces ✓ Why a pound of dried beans beats six cans by more than four dollars ✓ What the packet, the pouch and the already cut bag are really charging you for ✓ Why lentils are the answer to beef going up almost ten percent this year ✓ The twist: the free thing in your recycling that replaces boxed stock An honest note: prices are about, for a normal week in most of the US. The beans, rice, flour, potatoes, pasta, eggs and chicken figures come from the government average price data for August 2026, and the beef, poultry and vegetable numbers come from the government food price forecast for this year. Every number here I checked before I said it. Nobody pays me to recommend anything, and no brand is named on purpose. The homework: take your last receipt, find three lines on it that one of these sixteen would have replaced, and swap just those three on your next trip. Tell me in the comments: how many of the sixteen were already in your kitchen, which one you are adding first, and where in the world are you shopping? #grocerylist #frugalliving #groceryhaul #budgetmeals #savemoney #pantrystaples #cheapdinners #homemaking #carolineexplains
