This video teaches Learning Outcome 4 of Unit 3 Management of Human Resources in the Pearson BTEC Level 4 HNC and Level 5 HND in Business: how to apply HRM practices in a work-related context to improve sustainable organisational performance. You will learn how to decide that a post is needed, write task-based and competence-based job descriptions, and design a person specification using Rodger's seven-point plan. We then cover recruitment and selection in practice: designing and placing adverts, a worked example of scoring applications, interview preparation, structured interviews and bias, and selection best practice. The performance management section covers goal setting, financial and non-financial rewards, CPD and training evaluation, coaching, mentoring, wellbeing, reflective practice, underperformance, discipline, grievance, industrial disputes, mediation and succession planning, with a Netflix example. The final section explains the employment relationship, the psychological contract, employee voice and engagement, trust, and a Timpson example. It is for students working towards Pass, Merit and Distinction criteria P5, M5 and D3, including those preparing the recorded training session for Assignment 2.
