This video teaches Learning Outcome 1 of Unit 3 Management of Human Resources in the Pearson BTEC Level 4 HNC and Level 5 HND in Business: how to explain the impact of the role of HRM in creating sustainable organisational performance. You will learn what HRM is, the specialist areas of HR such as resourcing, employee relations, learning and development and organisational development, and typical HR roles and skills. We cover Ulrich's four HR roles, the impact of AI in HR, and the ethics and data protection issues it raises. We then explain strategic HRM: how vision, mission, objectives and aims shape HR strategy, best practice, best fit and configurational views of fit, the hard and soft models of HRM, the Harvard model, and people analytics with a worked labour turnover example. Finally we look at organisational performance: the AMO model, performance management cycles, high-performance working, the balanced scorecard, and the strengths and weaknesses of HRM. The video is for students working towards Pass, Merit and Distinction criteria P1, P2, M1, M2 and D1 on the Pearson BTEC HND in Business.
