ISMETA Approved Training Program
This mini-session guides you into your body as a source of connection to self and world. We begin by finding the edges of the body and then follow those edges into the center. We then progress onto deepened connection with the earth, connecting our centers with the earth’s center. The practice concludes with a Laban’s Dimensional Scale to connect our centers into movement and action.
This workshop offers a simple embodied practice of several aspects of Integrated Movement Studies training, including references to Core-Distal Movement Patterning, Spatial Scales, and experiences of yielding and grounding. While we do not cover them theoretically, the focus is connecting to their wisdom by experiencing them in your moving body.
Integrated Movement Studies was founded by Peggy Hackney, Janice Meaden and Pam Schick. We teach Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis. Our program includes Touch for Movement Repatterning and the Creative Systems Theory as a frame for teaching and learning. We are honored to be an Approved Training Program with ISMETA.
