On the morning of the 7th of December, 1941, there were eight American battleships at Pearl Harbor. Within two hours four were on the bottom, one had capsized, one was beached and burning. Eighty-five years later almost all of that steel is gone - not sunk by the Japanese, but sold, cut up and melted down by the country that built it. Some of it survives. One ship has never been found. One lay unseen three miles down for seventy years. And one is visited by two million people a year and still leaks oil into the harbour where she sank. This is all eight, ranked by one simple, physical rule: how much of the actual ship still exists today, and how close you can get to it.
