This lesson explores how equality, diversity and inclusion shape a child-centred approach in an early years setting. It explains the meaning of each term and shows how practitioners can recognise every child as unique, valued and an active participant in learning. You will look at practical ways to tailor support, including differentiated activities, one-to-one mentoring and adjustments for children with additional needs. The lesson also considers representation through books, displays, dolls, music, food and celebrations, helping children see their own lives reflected while developing appreciation for others. Accessibility is discussed through inclusive layouts, tactile resources, large-print books, picture cards and visual schedules. Effective communication with families and carers is highlighted, including valuing home languages and using shared knowledge to understand each child. Finally, the lesson emphasises honest reflection: noticing who may be excluded and changing routines, resources or habits when necessary. Inclusive practice is presented as a daily responsibility demonstrated through the choices practitioners make. Read the related CMS Vocational Training guide: https://cmsvoc.co.uk/blog/what-is-dev...
