Source: St. Paisios the Athonite – Spiritual Struggle. I translated this volume of St. Paisios’ teachings into English, and it is available for free on Patreon for anyone who would like to read it:   / st-paisios-170059840   How should we confess our sins so that Confession truly heals the soul? In this powerful teaching, St. Paisios the Athonite explains what a proper Confession really requires: honesty, humility, repentance, courage, and freedom from self-justification. He compares our spiritual falls to wounds received in battle. A wounded soldier does not give up the fight because he may be wounded again. He goes to the doctor, has his wound treated, and returns to battle. In the same way, when we fall, we should not despair or postpone Confession. We should bring the wound to our spiritual father, receive healing, and continue the spiritual struggle. St. Paisios also warns about some of the most common mistakes people make in Confession: minimizing sins, making excuses, hiding important details, delaying the confession of serious sins, digging up sins that God has already forgiven, refusing correction, and trying to impose our own will on our spiritual father. In this teaching, you will learn: • Why you should not despair when you fall again • Why even “small” sins can become a heavy spiritual burden • How to confess honestly without justifying yourself • Why serious sins should not be left unconfessed • Why Confession brings peace and inner freedom • Why we should not keep reopening sins that God has already forgiven • How pride can prevent us from accepting correction • Why trust in a spiritual father is so important • How our own desires can distort what we think we have been told • What a healthy relationship with a spiritual father should look like True Confession is not simply listing sins. It means opening the wound, telling the truth about ourselves, refusing to hide behind excuses, and allowing the Grace of God to heal and transform us. Please note: The voice-over is generated with ElevenLabs. I cloned my own voice because my accent in English is very poor. I have a Romanian-language Orthodox channel with 48K subscribers:    / @literaturaascetica   I decided to extend this mission to the Orthodox audience in the West. I translate texts from Romanian Orthodox books written with the blessing of bishops of the Romanian Orthodox Church, and then, using the translated text, I create the voice-over in ElevenLabs with my own cloned voice. May this teaching help us approach Confession with honesty, humility, repentance, and trust in the healing Grace of God. #SaintPaisios #Confession #OrthodoxChristianity #Repentance #SpiritualFather #OrthodoxChurch #SpiritualLife
