It Hadn’t Been Attempted in 15 Years

30.5 meters. 100 feet. One very rare window. Deep in the forests of Eastern Norway lies Tegningfallet — a waterfall that had only been attempted once before. In 2011, Martin Vollen took on the falls at low water. A kicker at the lip sent him flying, and he ejected on impact. He walked away, but Tegningfallet was left without a successful descent. 15 years later, heavy rain and snowmelt brought the river back to life. Martin sent us a message: the level might finally be right. Ruben Johnsen and I packed the cars and headed east, joined by Gaute Holthe and Audun Olinus Holthe on safety and cameras. What followed was one of the most memorable missions of my kayaking career — and the first successful descent of the 30.5-meter / 100-foot Tegningfallet.
