Two ratchets. Two completely different designs. In this video, I take apart and reassemble the Wera and GEDORE ratchet mechanisms to explore how they work, why their internal structures are so different, and how I'm modifying them for ZeroRunout custom screwdrivers. *WERA — A New Direction* The Wera ratchet is compact and mechanically intricate. I'm 3D scanning and redesigning its selector ring while keeping the original internal mechanism. The goal is to explore new materials, colors, and handle designs. *GEDORE — A Proven Approach* The GEDORE SilentGEAR mechanism is larger, with a straightforward and robust construction. I've already used it in several custom screwdriver builds, combining it with CNC-machined handles and Wiha 7148C CentroFix locking bit holders.
