Most people remember Caleb as one of the two good spies, and that's where his story ends for them. But it's really one of the most remarkable stories of faith in the entire Old Testament. From a single Hebrew verb hiding in Numbers 13 to a report that turned grown men into "grasshoppers"... from thirty-eight years of walking beside the people who were wrong to a quiet census that left only two men standing... from the plains of Moab to the camp at Gilgal, where an eighty-five-year-old man steps forward and asks Joshua for the one mountain where the giants still live...
This isn't a story about a spy mission. God says Caleb "followed Me fully," and the Hebrew phrase behind it, vaymalle acharai, is built on the verb "to fill": he filled up after Me, like a vessel filled to the brim. That phrase describes Caleb six separate times in Scripture, and it explains everything he did for forty-five years while he waited on a promise. His faith didn't fade with age. It sharpened, right up to the day he said, "Give me this mountain."
In this video, we walk through Caleb's life in order, in the original Hebrew, not just the English translation, from Kadesh Barnea to Hebron, and follow that mountain forward to Othniel, to David's first throne, and to the rest Hebrews 4 says still remains for the people of God. By the end, you'll see why age does not retire a promise.
