What does endurance training for a competitive boxer actually look like?
In this video, Coach Loganathan takes his athletes through a demanding conditioning session at TRY Boxing Academy — combining running, plyometrics, sprint work, medicine-ball drills, bodyweight exercises, crawls, and explosive movements.
The session begins with multiple rounds of jogging to build the aerobic base needed for boxing. From there, the intensity gradually increases with explosive jumps, short sprints, direction changes, hurdle work, and different movement drills.
The athletes then move into medicine-ball exercises and full-body conditioning. Instead of training each quality separately, Coach Loganathan combines strength, explosiveness, coordination, and endurance while constantly asking the boxers to move from one station to the next.
You’ll see exercises including:
Running and sprint intervals
Plyometric jumps and hops
Direction changes and footwork
Hurdle drills
Medicine-ball punching movements
Medicine-ball carries
High knees
Mountain climbers
Military crawls
Push-up walks
Explosive bodyweight conditioning
Coach Loganathan also explains the philosophy behind training his fighters this hard.
The idea is simple: *make training physically harder than what the boxer expects to experience in competition.*
By repeatedly working under fatigue in training, the athletes learn to keep moving, stay composed, and continue producing effort even when their body is tired. When competition arrives, the physical demands should feel far more manageable.
This session gives a look at the conditioning system behind the fighters of TRY Boxing Academy and how Coach Loganathan develops the endurance required for amateur boxing competition.
