Tony Spilotro ran Las Vegas for the Chicago Outfit for 15 years — and ended up buried beside his own brother in an Indiana cornfield. This is the full true story of "Tony the Ant," the most feared mob enforcer in Las Vegas history, the man who inspired Joe Pesci's Nicky Santoro in Martin Scorsese's Casino. From a Chicago restaurant frequented by mobsters to the infamous "M&M murders" and the head-in-a-vise torture that made his reputation, Anthony Spilotro rose through the Chicago Outfit under Sam "Mad Sam" DeStefano. In 1971, boss Tony "Joe Batters" Accardo sent him west to protect the casino skim — the river of untaxed cash pulled from the Stardust, Fremont, Hacienda, and Marina before it was ever counted. But Spilotro couldn't stay invisible. He built the Hole in the Wall Gang burglary crew with boyhood friend Frank Cullotta, opened the Gold Rush to fence stolen goods, racked up more than two dozen suspected murders, and was suspected in as many killings as Las Vegas had seen in the prior 25 years combined. He beat case after case thanks to legendary defense attorney Oscar Goodman — then destroyed himself with an affair with Geri McGee, wife of casino boss Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal. When Cullotta flipped, the Bertha's Gifts bust unraveled everything, and federal heat reached the top of the Outfit, Chicago made its decision. On June 14, 1986, Tony and his brother Michael were lured to a Bensenville basement with the promise that Michael would finally be made. They were beaten to death — not with baseball bats in a cornfield as Casino shows, but by fists, knees, and feet — and buried near Enos, Indiana. The murders stayed unsolved for 21 years until the Operation Family Secrets trial and the testimony of hitman Nicholas Calabrese finally revealed the truth. This is the complete history of Tony Spilotro, the Chicago Outfit in Las Vegas, the real story behind Casino, and the fall of the mob's desert empire. ⏱️ In this video: Spilotro's Chicago origins and the M&M murders The casino skim and how it worked The Hole in the Wall Gang and Frank Cullotta The affair with Geri Rosenthal and the Lefty car bombing Oscar Goodman and the parade of acquittals The 1986 ambush and the Indiana cornfield Casino: myth vs. documented truth Operation Family Secrets and the 2007 verdicts 🔔 Subscribe for more deeply researched organized crime and mafia history. 💬 Drop a comment: where are you watching from? #TonySpilotro #ChicagoOutfit #LasVegasMob #Casino #TrueCrime #MafiaHistory #OrganizedCrime #HoleInTheWallGang #FrankRosenthal #FamilySecrets DISCLAIMER: This video is an educational historical documentary based on publicly available records, court testimony, and published reporting.
