Welcome back to My Messy Life!
In this episode, I'm sharing a few more late-summer days here on the farm, with a little bit of everything along the way.
We start with an unexpected crop duster sighting before spending some time with family at a corn maze, feeding pigs and visiting the horses.
Back home, I'm gathering ingredients for fire cider, walking through the garden, opening and watering the greenhouses, and wondering where all my tomatoes went this year. Thankfully, a couple of cases of Roma tomatoes gives me something to put away in the freezer, and there's celery to blanch and dry too.
We'll also visit the cows and broiler chickens, take a look around the corrals and paddocks, check on the green feed and visit the horses. I even share an old family story about what happened nearly 30 years ago when it was time to butcher our broiler chickens—and hubby suddenly found a very good reason to take the children on a three-day road trip.
There are a few projects waiting in the wings too, including my bunny picket boards, a new raised bed still in its box, and garlic hanging up to dry.
And as summer slowly starts giving way to fall, hubby brings another load of hay down the driveway and we finish the day with a quiet sunset over the garden.
As always, this is just real life here on our farm—family, gardens, animals, preserving, projects and whatever else the day brings.
Thanks for coming along!
Real life. Country living. A little creativity. A lot of mess.
There's always room for one more!
